Ridley Scott's 1985 fantasy, Legend, starring a young Tom Cruise and a gloriously disguised Tim Curry as Darkness. This commission came in from Canada - presenting a problem: Which cut of the movie to work from?
In the US and Canada, the film has a much darker edit, with more focus on Darkness as a villain. In the UK and Europe, the emphasis is more on the fantasy aspect and love conquering all, making for a very different film. To add to the mix, Ridley Scott has a longer Director's Cut, which takes elements of each to form a more cohesive tale. After consulting with my client, we went for the US cut, as it was a gift for his wife, a massive Tim Curry fan, so we set the board up to be played from Darkness'perspective.
