Growing up with movies like Top Secret and Airplane!, I was a big fan of the often-overlooked TV series, Police Squad! Full of clever visual-gags, silly one-liners and 'guest stars' that were killed within the opening credits, it made you actually watch the television - which is why in a world of distractions and TV dinners, it flopped lasting only six aired episodes and an often-rumoured missing one with John Belushi as the ill-fated credits star.
Not to be deterred, the Zucker Brothers realised that as a big-screen feature, people would actually watch the movie and see all of those glorious jokes as they played out. This game takes in all three Leslie Nielsen movies, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell Of Fear, and The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (very nearly called Just For The Record as an extra pun). This was a lot of fun to do, and I had to create the counters to incorporate Frank's chastity underpants from part 3, as well as the now-decomissioned San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station that made a very famous appearance in the first movie.
